Since 2004, the Hanover Montessori Children's House has welcomed children from all walks of life and introduced them to an internationally-recognized Montessori program designed to give them a head start in life.

The original owner Ruth Maynard moved to Hanover from Owen Sound with her family this summer after twelve years working at the River forest Montessori school to fill a need for another childcare facility for the area. In 2006, Carol Edwins joined the staff to oversee all curriculum and student development, and provide a quality, unique experience for children between the ages of 2.5 to 6 years. Carol has over 40 years of teaching experience as a Montessori teaching in Canada, and in public schools in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Today, the school is owned by Carol Edwins, and it remains a fully licensed non-sectarian facility, recognized under the Day Nurseries Act. It has adopted the observations of Dr. Maria Montessori on how young children develop into the curriculum.

There are 16 spaces per day available at the school. Children may attend the school full-time, as an alternative to kindergarten, or attend on alternate days.

A day at the school includes outside and inside play, work with Montessori materials where the child is given freedom of choice in what to work on. Snacks are available through the day, and children are free to decide when to take a break for a snack. The day also includes circle time, hot lunch and nap time.
